A Paper Coauthored by Genta Ochi Published in Scientific Reports

Have you ever felt happier or more excited while listening to rhythmic music and found yourself moving along without thinking? This urge to move with a rhythm is known as groove.
Even light exercise stimulates the brain and can improve cognitive functions such as attention, concentration, and decision-making. This study found that, among people with a strong affinity for groove rhythms, simply listening to these rhythms stimulated the prefrontal cortex and enhanced executive function without exercise.

Genta Ochi of our laboratory contributed to this study with Assistant Professor Fukuie of the Health Sciences University of Hokkaido, Professor Hideaki Soya of the University of Tsukuba, and colleagues.
